Parents' Corner

Whether you're a parent or community member, Lake Pend Oreille School District (LPOSD) has a variety of wonderful and worthwhile opportunities you can get involved.

Classroom

In the Classroom

Volunteer in your child's classroom.

Call your child's school and sign up to be on the volunteer list.

Sign up to be a substitute teacher... and get paid!

You don't need to be a certified teacher to substitute. At LPOSD, you are able to sub where you feel comfortable, i.e., your student's classroom as needed by your student's teacher.

Become an uncertified instructor in the Career Technical Education (CTE) program.

You are able to become an instructor with specific expertise and work/teach under the umbrella of the certified teacher. We need more qualified people to help bolster the CTE programs at LPOSD.

As a Community Member

Attend school board meetings

Meetings generally take place on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the Ponderay Events Center.

Request that pertinent issues be placed on the board agenda

You can do this at public comment time during board meetings, or you can contact me or your school-zone board trustee to add it for you.

Financial donations

You can donate to LPOSD or to your child's specific school, and even to their class. Ask your child's teacher for needs and help out by providing  those specific items.

Ask your student specific details about their school day/classes

Knowing what happens in the classroom and in the lives of your children is essential. I believe that a child's education starts with the family. This is a good way to become more involved in what your child is being taught, while staying aware of what life is like for them at school.
